How solar works

Solar Panels are mounted on your roof with Pacific Solar’s patent pending, typhoon proven solar panel mounting system.
Solar Panels soak up the sun’s rays and turn them into electricity.
A Solar Inverter is used to convert the Solar Panel Electricity into power you can use in your home.
You use the Solar Electricity during the daytime.
Excess Solar Electricity created by your solar panel system gets sent to the Grid and you get Kilowatt Credits.
Your home will be connected to the Grid and so you can use Grid Electricity any time you need it.

Net Energy Metering

Net Energy Metering (aka Net Metering, and commonly referred to as NEM) allows residential and commercial GPA customers, who generate their own electricity from Solar Power, to sell the electricity they aren’t using back into the utility grid.

On Guam we have Public Law 27-132 which requires the Guam Power Authority to offer a Net Energy Metering program. In our opinion, GPA’s NEM program is one of the best you’ll find. Currently, GPA offers the most value possible for the Solar Power your system produces and sends back to the grid.

The utility meter records this back-feed of power and GPA gives you 1 kilowatt credit for every kilowatt of Solar Power you give them!

Excess credits will carry over to the next month, but, at the end of each calendar year excess credits are forfeited.

Solar Net Metering is one of several incentives available to you that help you realize a quick return on your investment. Through Net Metering you will save thousands of dollars every year, and basically become your very own power producer, on your way to becoming “energy independent”. Sustain jobs on Guam, help the local economy, and you will be doing your part to slow down climate change.

How Do I Get Solar?

ASSESS YOUR ENERGY NEEDS

Pacific Solar will calculate your monthly average power consumption from 12 mo. of your GPA bills.
Discuss Your energy usage, goals and plans (do you plan to increase or decrease in the near future?)

ROOF TOP AND SITE ASSESSMENT

Note: Orientation & slope, and verify if there are any objects that may cause potential shading.
Together, we can plan the best, efficient and aesthetic route for wires and conduits from roof to main electrical panel.

PRELIMINARY PV SYSTEM DESIGN AND PROPOSAL

Pacific Solar will come up with a preliminary design, simple diagram and proposal.
Together we will go over the details and terms of the proposal.

EXPLORING FINANCING OPTIONS

If you have the cash on-hand…Great!
If you require or prefer local bank financing; Pacific Solar can present options and assist.

SIGNING AGREEMENT, DPW PERMITTING & GPA APPLICATIONS

Very simple documentation. No fine print or hidden fees. We.ll need just a few signatures & a down payment.
Process the Dept. of Public Works building permit. We will also file the GPA Net Energy Metering application.

PROCURE, INSTALL, COMISSION & INSPECT

Almost all of the materials are in Pacific Solar’s warehouse. Sometimes we’ll need to special order items but this will not delay Your project.
Pacific Solar will complete Your installation in just a few days, test, and commission the PV System.
Inspections will be conducted by Pacific Solar’s master electrician, DPW, and GPA. Each will sign off that the system is functional, built as per plan, and following all building and electrical codes.
